Arriving in Langkawi felt like an entirely different country to Kuala Lumpur, although it did have it’s not so nice parts too. We were staying on the quieter beach which originally I wasn’t happy about, but I am very glad we did because it was a picture perfect location. We stayed at the Lanai Beach Resort and ate most of our meals at the beach bar here as we weren’t that impressed with the restaurants on the island.
The hotel was very good – the rooms were very basic but they made up for it with the pool and public areas which we spent far more time in anyway. Langkawi is quite a sleepy island and doesn’t have much in the way of shopping which was perfect at this stage as I was starting to worry how I would bring everything home, and this was with my boyfriend already flying out with a practically empty suitcase!
We did the day trip to the Langkawi cable car and took a walk on the crazy bridge hovering across the jungle – definitely not recommended if you have a fear of heights, it blows in the wind! My boyfriend has a fear of most things but thankfully he gave it a shot anyway!
