I have noticed a theme with all my major trips falling in September. This time my boyfriend and I did Bangkok and Phuket during the monsoon season which was our first visit to Asia. We stayed at Baan Thai Beach Resort and Spa which is right on Patong beach, although we weren’t very fond of Patong we found it to be the perfect location for everything.
We went on a Simba sea trip to Phang Nga bay and a fishing village where I probably had my best Thai food of the trip. We also went elephant riding with Siam Safari where we also had a buffalo ride and a quick cooking demonstration. The rain wasn’t a problem and usually came in the evenings for a few hours before disappearing, although when it came down, it really came down.
We had booked 2 weeks on Phuket which in the monsoon season we decided was a bit too long, so we returned to Bangkok a little early. We stayed at the Novotel Siam Square and found this hotel to be very good especially their food at the buffet restaurant. I got a bit carried away at MBK shopping centre and had to buy a second suitcase to get everything home.
This trip sparked my obsession with Asia which was to be the focus for my next few major trips before I made it back to the US again.
